United Way of NW MI seeks to hire a Quality Improvement Specialist for its Great Start to Quality Northwest Resource Center program. The Resource Center is a growth-focused organization that supports early care and learning professionals working in home-, center- and school-based child care, preschool and out-of-school time programs through professional development, coaching, and technical assistance. The Resource Center team includes Quality Improvement Coaches, Infant/Toddler Specialists, and early childhood systems experts. The Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS) fills an important role on the team by providing timely technical assistance to providers, operating the Resource Center’s extensive Lending Library, and supporting community engagement. Please note that all Resource Center positions require travel and occasional overnight stays. Outreach, technical assistance, and training are offered in-person and/or virtually for the convenience of those we support. Professional development and training for staff is included as part of the compensation package. Below is a summary of the duties of the QIS.

 Job Description:

  • Outreach to develop connections with programs and providers and support beginning the self-reflection process in Great Start to Quality (in-person and virtually)
  • Offer technical assistance to providers to access and maintain MiRegistry and GreatStarttoQuality.org profiles, create Michigan Virtual accounts, and access trainings through the Resource Center, MiRegistry, and Michigan Virtual (in-person and virtually)
  • Facilitate connections between providers, coaches, and consultants who can support quality improvement
  • Participate in all United Way/Resource Center team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities (in-person and virtual)
  • Participate in at least 90% of technical assistance and professional learning communities offered by Northern Early Childhood Support Network; participation will occasionally require travel and overnight stays (paid for by the Resource Center)
  • Maintain the Resource Center Lending Library (physical and virtual) and assist users in checking out/in resources
  • Represent the Resource Center and United Way of NW MI in community-based activities and state-wide initiatives, pilots, and programs as requested by directors
  • Attain and/or maintain credentials necessary to be a trainer for the Resource Center
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Computer literate
  • Can work efficiently in Google and other web-based applications
  • Can create and use spreadsheets to manage data
  • Social media literate and able to post to platform(s) used by United Way
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Written communication skills

 Experience Preferred – two or more of the following:

  • Early childhood development coursework/training
  • Child care experience in a home- or center-based setting
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience as a trainer or group facilitator
  • MiRegistry account
