(Traverse City) – United Way of Northwest Michigan (UWNWMI) is providing a response to inaccurate information that was shared at the Grand Traverse County Commissioners meeting on January 21, 2026 and subsequently reported in news sources.
It is important that our community, patients, partners, donors, and stakeholders have accurate information regarding United Way of Northwest Michigan, our United We Smile dental clinic, the difficult decision that was made to close United We Smile on January 2, 2026, and the steps we are taking to assist our patients as a result of our clinic closure.
United Way of Northwest Michigan has included a United We Smile Closure FAQ with this statement that provides important clarity and further information. This statement and FAQ are being distributed to the media, Grand Traverse County officials, and community partners so they are properly informed and can use for public distribution and publication.
